The Koholint Sword, also known as the Level 2 Sword, is a sword from Link's Awakening. It is an upgraded version of the sword that Link starts his quest with. It can be found at the Seashell Mansion in the Ukuku Prairie, east of Mabe Village.
In the original and DX versions of the game, Link must collect at least 20 of the 26 Secret Seashells located across Koholint Island and then bring them to the Spirit of the Mansion.[1] However, in the Nintendo Switch remake, Link needs to collect 40 of the 50 Seashells. When he walks to the platform in the Seashell Mansion, the Spirit of the Mansion will ask him to raise his sword above his head and turn his sword into the Koholint Sword.[2] The game then urges Link to put his name on the sword.[3]
Power and Abilities
This sword does twice the damage of the Level 1 Sword. For example, an enemy that previously took two hits to kill now only takes one, thanks to the more powerful Koholint Sword. It also gives Link the Sword Beam. When Link is at full hearts, this sword fires off a type of laser beam, which does half the damage of a normal sword slash.
